Dalen is a satellite setllement next to Thorildsby sharing some of its language and culture. It is also called the "city of eternal blue", as it also used the blue lanterns as Thorildsby, and managed to keep them. Today, Dalen is one of the top tourist attractions in Thorildhøj outside of Thorildsby.
Geography
Surroundings
Dalen sits in a valley 150m west of Thorildsby. To the south, east and west it is encompassed by the Lyserød Parken, a cherry forest with a mountain range. There is a hiking path from Dalen to Thorildsby through Lyserød Parken, which is about 400m long.
Dalen
Dalen is split into two: There is an outer ring with defenses and an inner part. The Thorildsby Light Rail goes inbetween the rings and makes a stop.
There is a historic and a new entrance to the outer ring: On the eastern side, there is a small wooden bridge connecting the outer side to Lyserød Parken. The new entrance is for hikers coming from the west. You need to climb a scaffolding to enter the outer ring from the west.
To enter the inner part, there is a historic wooden bridge from the outer ring in the east, a historic deepslate bridge from the outer ring in the west and a new entrance from the Thorildsby Light Rail system in the north.
History
First Construction
Fyndrix was stargazed by the valley next to Thorildsby, even hoping he would have built it there. He thought that the valley would fit perfectly for a castle. So he began the construction of Dalen on the 19th November 2023. He used deepslate, as he did everywhere in Thorildsby. He managed to build 5 houses and multiple towers in only 2,5 hours, making him proud of his accomplishments. He didn't know how much it would change later.
Second Wave of Construction
Over the course of multiple months, Fyndrix noticed his unfinished project (Dalen) and returned to extend it to the west a little bit. This is still not how we see Dalen today.
Thorildsby Reparation
During the Thorildsby Reparation, Dalen got completely remodelled; the houses recieved additional ornamentation, the floor turned wooden, three new towers were built, custom trees got added, and the space next to the tracks got turned into a lush park. This is how we see Dalen today.
Transport
Transport inside Dalen is only possible by foot, but when arriving to Dalen, there are multiple solutions:
The Thorildsby Letbane connects Dalen up to Thorildsby and Grantorvet. If you want to come from other destinations, a flawless interchange at Thorildsby C is possible. The lines that go to Dalen are the ㅤL2ㅤ and ㅤL3ㅤ.
- Hiking:
Dalen is connected by a hiking path to Lyserød Parken station, which goes through the national park. This path is about 400m long.
- Walking:
There is a walking path to Lyserød Parken station and Thorildsby Old Town as well, but doesn't come as close to the nature as the hiking path does.
