Homemade Åraniaian cinnamon Sødsnegl with a traditional fruit bowl

Sødsnegl (English: Sweet Snail) is a traditional Åranian pastry with many variations, most notably with vanilla cream or with cinnamon. It's sometimes reffered to as Sweet Roll in the international world. It can be enjoyed in Åranian cafés across the world, and in almost every café or bakery inside Årania.

Lore

The Sødsnegl originated from Åranian settlers trying to recreate the famous Thorildsbyan (then only Mørkby existed) Spandauer. However, they folded the dough incorrectly and over time the dough was formed like a snail. The jelly filling was replaced with the popular vanilla cream.

During the War of Dignity, when Kalkdui helped out Åranians to fight against Lanborgians, spices like cinnamon were exchanged. With the local population of Årania mixing with Kalkdui army members, Kalkduiand began mixing cinnamon into the Sødsnegl, which later became known as the Cinnamon Sødsnegl
