The country linked to this page will not be completed for a long time, as Lanborg is in the main focus of the builders. This page is mostly used for notes for the future. To go back to the Main Page, click here.
Kalkdui (Dun Script: كالكدوي) is a planned region of the Thorildsby Project, part of the Unified Commonwealth. Its location will be west of Årania, with close ties to them due to centuries long friendship, such as support against the Lanborg Empire during the War of Dignity. They will be located in a desert, with temperatures often reaching 35 degrees in normal circumstances while speaking Tal (Frisian), sometimes using Dun Script (Arabic Script). The capitol is called Al-Dessanin or الءديسسانين meaning ancient sands, reflecting on the old heritage of the city.
Culture
Practicing culture in Kalkdui is considered positive by the general public, as the country helped Årania during the War of Dignity. This is why Åranian culture is closely related to Kalkdui culture, which is able to be seen in its cuisine, architecture and art. However, after the War of Dignity, Kalkdui was seen as a country with little economic oppurtunities, making many descendants of Åranian-Kalkdui families move to Årania, therefore decreasing the Kalkdui population. However, Kalkdui has higher birth rate than its surrounding countries, making up for the diaspora.
Cuisine
Kalkdui cuisine is strongly portrayed by its usage of spices, which were exported to the rest of the world through them, as most spices were native in Kalkdui. As the growth of these spices is disadvantaged in other climates, spices were seen as a luxury food for centuries until the end of the war in Årania in -48Ð, when trading started flourishing throughout the neighbouring regions, as Kalkdui and Thorildhøj helped in the War of Dignity, which mixed the local populations.
Kalkdui Cuisine is very widespread throughout the world, unlike the Kalkdui diaspora. This means that unlike the Cuisine of Lanborg or Cuisine of Årania which are often performed by locals, Kalkdui Cuisine is not.
Kalkdui cuisine is also uniquely shaped by its sparse settlements, with high-class population ordering food to their settlement by letter or subscription. For the transportation though the sparse region which takes a long time, the temperature of the food has to stay warm for as long as possible. This is able to be seen in foods like Buli Udi and Rulgi

Buli Udi/بوليپودي (Bread Pockets)
Buli Udi (from Kalkdui Bôlepûdsjes: Bread Pockets) is a savoury Kalkdui dish made of cooked dough "pockets" filled with various fillings, most notably carrots, chicken, bell pepper and spices. One portion usually consists of one or two pieces of Buli Udi. The dish has spread through the world after the War of Dignity, as part of the "trade boom" making it widely availible in most cities as street food. The dish dates back to -300Ð when isolated settlements were present in Kalkdui. It was common for upper-class families to not make their food themselves, which created primitive delivery jobs. This meant that the dish had to stay warm for a long time to allow for consumption after a long time of transportation, which made the cooks cover the food with dough. After many variations, the Buli Udi was born.
Rulgi/رولجي (Cabbage Rolls)
Rulgi (from Kalkdui Rôlje: to roll) are Kalkdui cabbage rolls filled with meat. One portion consists of 3-5 rolls and is a vital part of Kalkdui Cuisine, yet not internationally recognized as a widely-availible dish, unlike Buli Udi. Still, the dish can be found in many restaurants and street food establishments in Kalkdui and traditional restaurants outside the country. The dish also dates back to ~-250Ð and shares the same roots as Buli Udi, where food was covered with a temperature isolator to allow for transportation across the isolated desert settlements. However, Buli Udi remains the older and more popular counterpart. When Kalkdui people were captured in the War of Dignity in Lanborg, they spread the dish with them. Einar, the dictatorious king of the Lanborg Empire wanted to replace the cabbage with Lanborgian Peppers and the meat mixture with pure meat mince, to "nationalize the foreign dish". Following that, Kalkdui cooks cooked the meat for longer than needed, blaming the different meat quality of the Lanborg Empire. This caused burns in the King's mouth, making his tongue numb for the next days. This caused the birth of Heitare, the counterpart of Rulgi made by Kalkdui people captured as slaves by the Lanborg Empire.
Kuladi Bomar/جوكولاديبوممار (Chocolate pralines)
Kuladi Bomar (from Kalkdui Sjokoladebommen: Chocolate Bombs) are chocolate pralines from Kalkdui made of cocoa and fat from horse or camel milk. There are no portion perscription, but 1 piece per serving is recommended by experts, mostly due to the high fat percentages in the pralines, reaching 40%. The dish is very present in Kalkdui, with many pralineries considering it a vital product. Kuladi Bomar are also often seen at private gatherings with many guests. Under these circumstances, a tower (5-20cm) is made of the pralines is built to impress the guests. The dish is called "Chocolate Bombs" due to their high fat percentage. This is perhaps best portrayed by a legend from -100Ð, that when the brother of a famous Kalkdui writer first tried the dish, he became addicted and developed an unhealthy diet, partially immobilizing until he recieved surgery.
