Åranian is the national language of Årania, with minority speakers in Thorildhøj. The language evolved from old Thorildsk, which was spoken in the areas of modern Årania and Thorildhøj. Old Thorildsk turned into modern Thorildsk and Åranian over time, with the main difference being Åranian leaving out many silent letters in contrast to Thorildsk which kept all letters. Both languages are mutually intelligible.
Åranian, just as Thorildsk, is based on Danish.
