Kalkdui Language (also Kalkdui formally or Kalkduian informally), or by locals called Tal (Dun Script: تال) is the national language of the Kalkdui Region. It is closely related to Altsprech less closer to Åranian and Thorildsk. It is only partially intelligible with the banned Altsprech which it is the most similar to.
Previously, the Dun Script was used for writing, allowing for more quicker writing but has since fallen into irrevelancy as most Kalkdui speakers switched to standard writing to ease communication for trade. After -6Ð, the Dun Script was mandatory to be taught again to preserve culture.
Today
Tal is the most widespread language of Kalkdui, followed by Åranian. Teaching is mandatory and most establishments offer the language inside the country. The Dun Script, which has seen a slow rise since -6Ð, is seen as a more patriotic way of communication and is used in government buildings and older establishments. Books and documents using the script are common to find in libraries.
