Anglish is a constructed langauge created by language professor Benedikt Karlsson in Thorildhøj in -66Ð. The constructed language was made to be easy to learn for everyone, as it is a mix of Thorildsk, Åranian, Tal and Tungmal.
The language was taught to all soldiers, who could then easily use it for communication in the Northern Coalition, a war power against the Lanborg Empire. The language was deemed easy to learn by most soldiers, who learned it in just a few weeks. After the success in the army, the language became mandatory to learn in schools and for all residents of the Northern Coalition.
English Dialect
When the Eastern Lanborg Empire was occupied in -7Ð by the Northern Coalition, it was also mandatory for the residents to learn Anglish. However, because the population of the Eastern Lanborg Empire had a language which was previously banned (occitan), they naturally implemented parts of it into Anglish. This dialect of Anglish became known as English.
Nowadays, English is used more widely than Anglish and is considered more colloquial (and is more widespread in media). Both dialects are mutually intelligble with only some words being changed. Anglish is always used in official documents and institutions.
